African Mahogany

Mahogany is a hardwood that’s heavy and stiff, with excellent dimensional stability. It is moderately dense, but still very strong, with good shock resistance.

The wood has a medium texture with a straight to irregular grain pattern.

Mahogany varies in colour from light to medium dark reddish-brown and tends to lighten with age and exposure to sunlight.

Nailing, screwing and gluing properties are good and it may be stained and polished to an excellent finish.

African Mahogany is used for flooring, interior joinery and furniture making. It is also extensively used for laminations.
